Set of six fine, French, Regence style, carved giltwood fauteuils
Each with foliate carved, channelled frame and carved, giltwood entertrotoise (stretchers). Legs terminating in pied de sabots. Each chair applied with a paper label to the underside:
CALIFORNIA PALACE FOR THE LEGION OF HONOR, 21, LINCOLN PARK, SAN FRANCISCO/1958.54/armchair, wood carved, gesso and gilt; upholstered in silk and wool petit-point embroidery/France, style of about 1710/Lent by the W.H. Crocker Estate and with a stencilled label GUERDE/doreur encadreur/45 rue de Bourgogne 45/Paris/meubles batiment a cadres dor/aes Noir met imitation d'…./eatt/aemiation et oxidisation de 10r.
One of six matching chairs shown. 19th century.

Pair of very fine, rare, late Louis XVI polychrome decorated doors within a door surround
The pair of paneled doors decorated with antheniennes on pedestals surrounded by polychrome Vitruvian scrolled vines and feathers within a carved egg and dart and bead carved frame; the overdoor panel with similar decoration within a grapevine carved door surround with a scrolled leaf border. Probably Provence. Late 18th century.

Set of twelve, fine, French Restauration, painted and parcel-gilded chairs
Comprising six armchairs and six side chairs, each with a scrolled, padded back. The armchairs with curved arms terminating in scrolling leafs above leaf-carved scrolling legs and back sabre legs. Circa 1825.

The oval top with three extensions above an apron raised on six fluted, tapering legs terminating in brass casters. In solid mahogany and mahogany veneers. Early to mid-19th century.

The padded backrest with serpentine top rail continuing to padded wings, the shaped rails raised on cabriole legs; the whole carved with foliate scrolls, shell motifs and seed pods. Mid-18th century.

With veined pink marble serpentine-fronted top above a shell and foliate frieze on crosshatched and diagonal reeded ground, raised on foliate-carved double scroll cabriole legs terminating in "pied de sabots." Circa 1725.

In solid, carved oak with a Bacchic mask centered over a molded, arched cornice and a pair of paneled doors carved with shells and delicate, scrolling foliage. 19th century.

Pair of Louis XIV style fauteuils
In solid walnut with the "Les os de mouton" (sheep's horn) stretchers characteristic of Louis XIV furniture. One of these identical chairs was carved in the 17th century while the other was added in the 19th century to complete the pair ("fausse paire").
