Provenance: Formerly part of the furnishings at The Audubon House, Key West, FL; previously on exhibition at the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, Miami, FL.

In solid, carved giltwood, each with outscrolled-ends and a seat covered in cream silk damask by Brunscwhig & Fils, with paneled friezes applied with oak leaves and acorns, on incurved legs with lion's paw feet, the underside of each inscribed 65.1137 B and 38584.

Probably Northern European, circa 1810.

In solid, carved giltwood. Circa 1780. Stamped "P H Poire JME" (Philippe Poirié, who was named Maître Ébéniste in 1765).

Poirié produced seating in the Louis XV and Louis XVI styles. While his Louis XV items were considered ordinary, his Louis XVI production was considered brilliant. His works are displayed in the Musee du Louvre, Musee de Beauvais, and Musee de Cognac-Jay.
